A flood control weir had developed a leak that required
repair. A FAS-DAM Systems® was installed lowering the water level
to allow a full inspection of the weir. It was discovered
that the erosion damage to the weir was far more extensive
than anticipated. |

To further complicate matters, the area received record
rainfall as a result of a gulf hurricane. Water levels rose
quickly and required an emergency expansion of the dam.
FAS-DAM Systems®
crews worked 24 hours a day to accomplish the mission, which
now required two additional dam structures to be used as holding
areas to contain excess water flow and an extended diversion
system to prevent further bank erosion. |

The customers= engineers had planned for water up to ten
feet so the FAS-DAM Systems® was not ordered
with the bracing recommended for twelve-foot depths. Even
though the heavy rain caused the water level to overtop the
twelve-foot FAS-DAM Systems®,
it remained in place and intact despite the incredible force
of the water. |
